Bring Your Own Lunch Box aims to reduce single use waste at local street food markets by encouraging customers to reuse their own lunch box.

Bring Your Own Lunch Box aims to reduce single use waste at local street food markets in Bristol by encouraging customers to reuse their own lunch box when they order food. Following an initial trial at Temple Quay Market, we have expanded the initiative to Finzels Reach Market, providing a big opportunity to reduce waste generated in the BID area.

We are grateful for the support from the market hosts, traders and local businesses including Finzels Reach Market, Gurt Wings, Ecosurety, and Simmons & Simmons . Continue reading to hear why they support Bring Your Own Lunch Box.

“As a market, we realise that it generates quite a lot of waste so we’re always looking for new ways to make it more sustainable and one way to do that is by getting our customers to bring their own lunch box and that way they can create a good habit which is much more sustainable. Thanks to Redcliffe & Temple BID we have now launched a Bring Your Own Lunch Box scheme which all of our traders are happy to fill up with lots of tasty food.” –  Sian Rosier, Finzels Reach Market Manager.

“We have been trading at Finzels Reach Market for about 3-4 years now and we support the bring your own lunch box scheme, helping to save this lovely planet of ours.” –  James Mitchell, Gurt Wings.

“We are based around the corner from Finzels Reach Market and are really happy to support this initiative. In the waste and resources industry, we are aware of the issues around single use takeaway containers most of which are non-recyclable, especially the polystyrene ones. So, this is a great initiative to remind citizens to reuse, refill and just that we can all do our bit to reduce the usage of single use packaging.” – Mma-tshepo Grobler, Communication and PR Specialist at Ecosurety.

“The Bring Your Own Lunch Box campaign is a great environmental initiative that Simmons & Simmons Bristol office is happy to support. We are committed to reducing our carbon footprints and our waste and improving the culture of our organisation in terms of the environment. We are delighted to be involved in supporting our local community here in Bristol.” – Shelly Farzaneh, Officer Manager at Simmons & Simmons.
